Reflective Account Essay
A new little boy started recently in nursery, as he entered nursery i bent down, smiled giving him eye contact i then said hello using his name and told him mine and he smiled back. He had never been to nursery before and he was very excited and had no awareness of the daily routine. i calmly held out my hand and he held out his. holding each others hands i showed him where his name card was, he picked up his name card and we walked over to the self-registration board. i asked him what he would like to play with and he chose to play with the cars. but during his play he become very upset because he wanted to play with the red car and another child had the red car. so i bent down and placed my arm around him and asked to look at me. Tears were rolling down his face and i explained to him that when the other child had finished playing with the red car he would be able to have a turn. i then sat down next to him to take turns in using the garage and sharing the cars. During the session i continued to support him, during lunch time and throughout the session. On occasions when he was unsure of what to do we went over to the routine board and talked him through the pictures so he knew what was happening next. Reflection I felt that i reassured him by letting him know who i was and at all times i made sure i gained his attention by using his name and ensure that he was listening by making sure we gained eye contact before speaking. I helped him with understanding the daily routine and I helped him with his social skills by supporting him with understanding the we need to take turns and share. Next time Next time I will carry on encouraging his social skills and communication skills by supporting him with sharing the toys and taking turns. I will also tell him the childrenââ¬â¢s names so he will feel part of a group and help with his self esteem. All while letting the child know I will be there to support him and help with his daily needs if he needs it.

Netflix Business Risks Essay
For a low monthly price Netflix allows their customers not only to streamline videos on their mobile devices and computers but also choose from a wide variety of DVDââ¬â¢s. This allows for the consumer to watch as much which is beneficial for someone that has a busy schedule and would like to go back and catch up where they left off. As with every business there are risks associated with the everyday operations and I will go into detail as to what the risks are that Netflix has encountered. Business Risk I was a Netflix customer back in 2010 and I was pleased with the low monthly rate associated with a Netflix membership. This option was wonderful with a houseful of children that had different likes in what they watched everyone was pleased. As I carefully monitored my monthly bank statements the low price was at a constant rate up until the middle of July 2011. My monthly fee of $8.50 went up to $16.00 which nearly doubled. More than doubled. I made the honest mistake of not taking into consideration the economic downturn and what risks were associated with such a good deal. As the saying goes, if it is too good to be true it must be. With a household of 7 I had to outweigh the pros and cons of paying an additional $8.00 a month. While comparing the previous membership price along with the new membership price there was no return on the companyââ¬â¢s part. I was still able to view movies via streaming online as well as DVDââ¬â¢s in the mail. So why did the the price jump? Pogue (2011) states, ââ¬Å"This, as you can imagine, is not a popular decision. This isnââ¬â¢t a cost-of-living increase. This isnââ¬â¢t inflation. Itââ¬â¢s a 60 percent overnight price increase ââ¬â that gives you nothing new in return.â⬠Not only was I the only irate customer. Netflix felt this chain of reaction across the globe, the consequence of a 60% price increased caused Netflix to lose 800,000 customers in their third quarter. Operational Risks Netflixââ¬â¢s Chief Executive Office Reed Hastings made the decision in splitting Netflix into two separate companies. One of the companies will be specifically for streaming movies on demand and the other company will be called Qwikster specifically for the DVD business. Blodget (2011) states, ââ¬Å"And we can also certainly understand why, from the companyââ¬â¢s perspective, it makes sense to split the DVD and streaming businesses into two separate companies: Theyââ¬â¢re different businesses, with different cost structures and different delivery, marketing, licensing, and management challenges, and they will be easier to run better if theyââ¬â¢re managed separately.â⬠Split in Two. It only makes sense to create two companies that would help them focus on their main objective. Since Qwikster will be for the dvd section library they have to take into consideration the costs of shipping out a dvd, the quantity of inventory in the warehouse as well as inventory turnov er. Online streaming does not the same costs associated since the consumer is just a click away from watching at their convenience. Consumers are sometimes forced in choosing the DVDââ¬â¢s because as I have experienced myself some of the older and newer versions of movies are not available to stream online. For example, Willow was an all-time favorite of mine during my childhood, while checking the streaming library I came across the movie but once I had clicked on the title it showed it was only available via DVD. I have a very bad habit in returning the Netflix dvd given there are no additional shipping costs associated with the dvd, but the downfall for Netflix is that there is one less dvd out in the world and the inventory wonââ¬â¢t be replenished until I return this movie. Financial Risk Netflix domestic online streaming has a committed amount of customers while domestic dvd are hit the worst. Netflix membership plans include $8.00 a month for unlimited streaming, for an additional $8.00 more a month customers can add unlimited DVDââ¬â¢s, and if the consumer is interested in Blu-ray disks then they would add an additional $2.00 on top of dvd price bringing it up to $10.00 for Blu-rayââ¬â¢s. Hurley (2012) states, ââ¬Å"Nevertheless, gross, operating, and net income margins have been sliding steadily and substantially for several years. Moreover, Netflix continues to rely on subscriptions to its DVDââ¬â¢s-by-mail service to prop up net income. Although management officially altered corporate strategy to place emphasisà on streaming services rather than DVD-by-mail services and there are more than twice as many streaming subscriptions as by-mail subscriptions.â⬠Strong Force. In December 2012 it was announced that both Disney (DIS) and Netflix (NFLX) announced a deal that would allow Disney shows and movies to be available to only Netflixââ¬â¢s subscribers. The result of this announcement resulted in Netflix stock rise to 15%. This is great news for consumers like me who is a Disney fanatic, now I will have a reason to stay with Netflix so that I can watch Disney movies with an unlimited amount of time. Conclusion When the price increase occurred back in 2011, I did cancel my membership because I was still feeling the economic downturn in my household. I would rather use that $18.00 towards filling up my gas tank rather than watch TV, in my eyes needs are more important than wants in my household. In mid-2012 I had a career change that resulted in a higher income. I now had a little extra play money to apply to a want that I once had and since Netflix allowed my children to be satisfied and allowed for some quiet time on my end, I went ahead and renewed my subscription. Being on Netflix for a few months I can say that I was extremely stoked when the announcement of Disney and Netflix working together. References Blodget, H. (2011). In spite of what we see on television regarding crime scenes and detective work, detectives are more complex than what they are showing us. According to the Bureau of Labor, a police officers Job is to protect the citizens and our land(Bureau of Labor 2014). While the Job of a detective is to investigate crimes, gather facts and collect evidence, for a potential crime (Bureau of Labor 2014), there are severe types of detectives within a police department. There are homicide detectives, who work specifically on finding the person who committed the homicide.Cyber Crime detectives, and their focus is strictly on protecting the citizens from internet abuse kind computer crimes. Computer crimes would consist of fraud and identity thief. Cyber detectives also protect our youth from predators on the internet. There is also have a gang and narcotics unit, in which some of the detectives will go undercover, just to get the information they need to start an investigation. (Dempsey & Frost 2011 ). Last but not least, there is a detective unit for cold cases. These cases are asses that could not be solved, boot other detectives from different departments(Retested 2014). I believe that they should leave the policing to the police and the Investigative work to the detectives. Keeping their work separate is beneficial to the citizens and the police department. This way they can be more attentive and peduncle to the citizens in specific areas. Police are being pulled Into many different directions on a dally basis.. They are called for emergency and non-emergency situations everyday. The police wouldn't be as effective doing their day to day, If they add detective work to their plate. I believe that the detective annuls that I mentioned above are needed and should be kept separately. While I do agree that the police should do the preliminary work, but I do not agree with them doing the Investigative work as well. I don't believe the police departments wouldn't be as successful If they didn't have them separate. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (2014). Police and Detective Occupational Outlook. Ocean regulation and deregulation Research Paper
Ocean regulation and deregulation - Research Paper Example The aim of deregulation has always been to reduce the constraints that are imposed by the government on the ocean transport sector. Deregulation aims at creating conditions that are conducive to the success of the ocean transport system. During the process of deregulation, the Federal Maritime Commission was in struggle with the pressure of removing the anti-trust immunity that the ocean shipping conferences were enjoying. Although the ocean shipping reform act has maintained the anti-trust immunity (Dong-Hua 24). The modes affected by the reregulation include leaves of the ocean workers, standards that will prevent oil spills in the oceans, and simplified processes that will settle transactions carried out in the ocean transport sector. The new regulations are seen as economically significant regulations since they promote benefits of the ocean transport (Dick 385). It is important for current logisticians to understand that an efficient transport system that is economical is an essential system. Especially in the field of shipping and ports, the efficiency of the transport system is very important. Re regulation is likely to improve logistics and facilitate trade through ocean transport (Sagers

IHRM Recommendations - Improving Subsidiary Performance Essay
IHRM Recommendations - Improving Subsidiary Performance - Essay Example Within this operation, Joe Mendes reports that attempts to integrate a performance management system are meeting with worker and union resistance, generally obstructing forward productivity in this subsidiary. Our subsidiary in France is plagued with excessive staff holidays, which tends to disrupt production and overall facility productivity, requiring a more effective performance management system and a method by which to boost productivity. In Sweden, Gary Alder reports that high unionisation, a workforce which offers resistance to performance management targets, and American expatriate managers who are not adapting management policies befitting Swedish cultural ideals are causing significant barriers to effective HRM and productivity. Because of the problems with expatriate managers and foreign labour expectations, a series of recommendations are offered to better streamline and enhance the international human resources policies of Medical Precision Systems. MPS has made a marked effort to expand into international territory, with all three of the firms subsidiary operations having been acquired or established no less than ten years ago. Under the ultimate strategy of transforming MPS into a transnational entity, clearly, a tremendous improvement effort is required to ensure that MPS reaches its target of global expansion with minimal disruption to the business objectives for growth and profitability. Currently, under the phases of internationalisation proposed by Adler & Ghadar (1990), MPS has reached a level of multi-domestic or international operations, not yet categorised as a multi-national firm. Multinational, or global firms, require that management (regardless of their point of host origin) share a common set of values and beliefs. As of this date, MPS' subsidiary operations remain focused on improving local responsiveness and attempts to transfer American, domestic learnings to those of the overseas labour forces.

Finance - Essay Example The profit after corporate tax rate of 30% comes to $ 7245000. The Net Present Values of the project has been calculated by taking into account the initial investment and the cash flow streams at the end of every year and it comes to $ -28566432.13 (Kirkpatrick and Weiss, 1996, p. 15). This means that the company would not be able to break even at the end of 4 years and thus the new technology should be implemented for avoiding the expenditure burden for the company. In the scenario of adoption of the new technology, the company would be able to reduce the per unit production cost and as a result of which the profit for the company will increase at the same selling price of the product (Peterson and Fabozzi, 2004, p. 71). The company has to incur an initial investment of $55000000. The advantage for this project is that the company will get back a salvage value of the new machine at the end of four years and also some value from the resale of the old machine. The cash flows at the end of each year would also be more compared to the old machine. Thus after calculation of the NPV it is found that it is still negative but the figure is much better as compared to the old machine. The financing for the new Machine can be done by selling the old machine @ $ 1,20,00,000 and the remaining amount of $ 5,50,00,000 has to be taken as a loan from a bank with a rate of interest @ 9 % pa. Thus the interest has to be deducted from the Profit before calculating the NPV of the new project (Chapman and Ward, 2007, p. 47). Decision Tree Analysis: It is one of the commonly used techniques for evaluating the permeability of a project. In case of a decision tree, the projects various possible situations are calculated and their associated probabilities of occurrences are taken into consideration. Accordingly a diagram is plotted and that gives an idea of the situations that might happen due to the occurrence of a particular project and how much return it

The defence of self-defence Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
The defence of self-defence - Essay Example An individual is allowed in the eyes of the statutory defence to make use of reasonable force in an attempt to avoid committing a crime in such situations in which the individual cannot use the common law to avail himself. It is for the jury to decide as ordinary members of the community what exactly can be qualified as reasonable force in a certain case considering its individualistic facts. Ross is physically a very strong man, and he needed to protect himself not only against the first attempt of Samantha to injure or kill him but also her subsequent attempts. He needed to use at least as much force that would help him achieve that. His use of force did not instantly cause the death of Samantha. Therefore, Ross is innocent in the case of Samanthaââ¬â¢s death. The defence of self-defence In the case under consideration, although Ross may be blamed for killing David, yet the blame that has been placed on him for killing Samantha is not right because what he did was an attempt to defend himself from the harm that Samantha was just about to cause him with her golf club. Self-defence makes a very important part of the English lawââ¬â¢s doctrine of private defence. Ross should not be found guilty of the murder of Samantha and the defence of self-defence should have been put to the jury. ... English law has self-defence as a complete defence of justification in any case that includes any kind of assault. This makes self-defence unlike the loss of control that applies just for the mitigation of what would be classified as murder to manslaughter otherwise. Unlike loss of control, self-defence is a complete defence. Because of this completeness, the interpretation of self-defence is done in a comparatively conservative manner in order to avoid the development of a justification standard that is too generous. Increasingly forgiving defences provide the cynical defendants with greater incentives of the defenceââ¬â¢s exploitation in their planning of the use of violence as well as when they have to make an explanation of the matters following the incident. Jury in the cases involving self-defence are entitled to consider the defendantââ¬â¢s physical characteristics, though such evidence does not have much probative value in reaching the decision if excessive force was im plied. According to the principle of general common law, ââ¬Å"A defendant is entitled to use reasonable force to protect himself, others for whom he is responsible and his property. It must be reasonableâ⬠(Beckford v R (1988) 1 AC 130 cited in Smart Self Defence, 2011). In the case under consideration, Ross is a heavy man who is more than six feet in height whereas Samantha is petite with a total height of only five feet and three inches. Rossââ¬â¢ above average physical structure and excessive strength in comparison to Samantha along with Samanthaââ¬â¢s below average height may give Ross some advantage in the eyes of law since not only Ross was too powerful, but also Samantha was too petite in

Comment on the - Article Example It may also boost the morale of the employee where they achieve the divisionââ¬â¢s profit and are rewarded on the same. However, this structure may also create goal conflict between the organizationââ¬â¢s goals and the geographical goals (Go, 2012). This may however be curbed through proper organizational leadership. International geographic organizational structure may also be used to establish the MNEââ¬â¢s in new regions. This helps the geographic region enjoy independence from the headquarters management since each region is unique .This uniqueness may however, be costly on establishment costs and customized problems to the region thus reducing the organizationââ¬â¢s profits. Therefore, for successful expansion of the MNEââ¬â¢s it is recommended to use the international Divisional organizational structure. The organization division organization structure creates a compressed organizational chart since all divisions report directly to the top level executives. This eases communication hence increased teamwork brought about by the focus on the employees abilities. On the other hand international Geographic organizational structure focuses on each region as a separate entity of the organization due to the fragmentation. This leads to increased costs on managing each region. It is also notable that international geographic organizational structure uses contingency eldership style which is expensive to employ (Go, 2012). These two organizations structures have been exemplary detailed by the ââ¬Å"Microsoftâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Avon ââ¬Å"products. In Avon products its revenue is seen to decrease in the European markets due its changes in the Economic

Personal Statement Essay Example for Free
Personal Statement Essay My academic background, which has been both varied and informed by different academic settings, has seen my succeeding as a student in South Korea, Guam, and Seattle. Because of the nature of my fatherââ¬â¢s job, I have had the rare opportunity to study and to learn in a variety of different educational settings with a variety of different intellectual approaches and cultural influences. My family and I arrived in Seattle from Guam in 2003; the familyââ¬â¢s collective goal was to relocate in order to find better educational opportunities for my younger brother and myself. Though I had taken piano lessons for many years, I decided to pursue piano as a hobby while I devoted more attention to working part-time in order to finance my studies. As a student in Seattle, I soon learned that music and psychology were my passions and my music professor truly seemed to respect my musical ability and constantly encouraged me to pursue my musical interests. Taking my professorââ¬â¢s advice, two years ago on Christmas Eve, a Korean womanââ¬â¢s association had a party to raise money for a charity organization. Needing some form of entertainment, they invited me to perform a piece of music on stage during dinnertime. I played Schubertââ¬â¢s impromptu op 90. Eb major. I was nervous but on the other hand I felt delighted and hoped it wouldnââ¬â¢t be the last performing in public and for a worthy charitable cause. Music, in sum, allows me to blend my personal passions with my academic talents in a manner that can be used to benefit society. In terms of my career goals, and my specific interest in the University of Washington, the fact is that Id like to transfer to this university because I want to learn from experts with more experience and to share my interests with peers with similar goals and aspirations. My greatest dream, is to comfort peoplesââ¬â¢ hearts as a Music Therapist. I genuinely enjoy sharing what I have learned with everyone and I am most delighted when I sing with people while playing piano. I enjoy getting to know peoplesââ¬â¢ minds and emotions because I have empathy and this influences my musical styles and performances. Personally, for example, I have played synthesizer in church bands throughout Korea, Guam and Seattle, and gave my time to serve as a music tutor to many students. If Iââ¬â¢m admitted into this school, Id like to be attend in schools choir and jazz club. Sharing, both personally and academically, is the greatest way to learn and the greatest way to give back to the community/ Culture, in my view, is a manifestation of diversity. That excellence cannot be attained without diversity it seems, in the modern world, to be a rather intuitive deduction. Such a deduction is perfectly consistent with the underlying nature of any intellectually honest type of inquiry. A thesis must be formulated, tested against all of the available data, and conclusions drawn. Diversity contributes, indeed it is a necessary ingredient, for any type of rigorous analysis. Social truths cannot exist in a vacuum; truths must be tested in the real world and with real people rather than with imaginary prototypes that do not reflect the true diversity of opinion and contrary world views that reflect both our own society and the world at large. What might seem a perfectly plausible theory to one individual might seem extraordinarily unjust to another individual; a traditional approach that seems to one individual to bring the greatest good to society to another individual might threaten to socially ostracize minority opinions; and, finally, ethnocentric views inhibit academic inquiry whereas culturally diverse pools of learners break down biases and contribute to more meaningful discussions and theoretical paradigms. In the final analysis, the University of Washington is an ideal setting in which to study and shares ideas that have profound social implications As a young person already immersed in an increasingly multicultural community and world, I am especially interested in the emphasis given to multicultural approaches at the University of Washington. Such an approach, respecting and encouraging both personal development and academic development through the embrace of different cultural values and perspectives, lends itself exceptionally well to my own goals and aspirations. One of the causes of so much conflict in the world today can be attributed to a lack of effective communication that results in unnecessary misunderstandings and confusion. In reality, in my experience, people around the world have so many positive characteristics and dreams in common. People throughout the world desire peaceful environments in which to live; people desire to pursue harmonious relationships with family members and neighbors; and, most of all, people desire to avoid conflicts that are damaging in so many ways.

PayPal involve in several payments processing such as, online auction, online vendors, and others commercial users. It will costs some fees from the recipient for receiving money, fee included the percentage of the amount plus another additional amount. The fees is charged depend on the currency used, the option that choose by the user, the country of the sender and recipient (how far between both sender and recipient), the total amount sent by the sender and the type of account that the recipient receive it. In addition, shopping on eBay and then made the transaction by a credit card through PayPal may incur a foreign transaction fee if the seller is located in another country, as credit card issuers are automatically informed of the sellers country of origin. 2.6 Critical Evaluation According to Singh Sumanjeet1 (2009, p.24), Electronic cheque system has many advantages: (1) they do not require consumers to reveal account information to other individuals when setting an auction (2) they do not require consumers to continually send sensitive financial information over the web (3) they are less expensive than credit cards and (4) they are much faster than paper based traditional cheque. But, this system of payment also has several disadvantages. The disadvantage of electronic cheque system includes their relatively high fixed costs, their limited use only in virtual world and the fact that they can protect the users anonymity. Therefore, it is not very suitable for the retail transactions by consumers, although useful for the government and B2B operations because the latter transactions do not require anonymity, and the amount of transactions is generally large enough to cover fixed processing cost. In my opinion, i strongly agree with the statement that the author mentioned about. Electronic cheque system provides several advantages than a paper based cheque such as faster speed transaction, provide a certain level of security like encryption or decryption, and so on. But there are still limits of disadvantages for electronic cheque system, like high fixed costs or development start-up costs. Besides that, electronic cheque system can be used in virtual world instead of the real world payment method. And the most important point is the security issue, because the less of face to face communication, we cant even know the actual user as well. The possibilities that someone is try to pretend as the actual user to make transaction with us and caused identity threat 3. Strength and Weakness 3.1 Advantages of Online Payment Online payment, what we called as online payment, is an indispensable business. This is extremely important to accept electronic payment of telecommunications service industry, because it started to use this rapidly growing economy is fully utilized. Use of credit cards by phone or Internet is a familiar and convenient for consumers in the form of payment. It provides for immediate purchase to reduce the pain of payment delay coupling. Customers often feel more comfortable with a credit card, because they know they have the proof to the product or service if they not satisfy on it. There are several advantages of online payment (e-payment): 3.1.1 Convenient and 24 hours real time transaction Through the use of online payment system, consumer can access the web to make any transaction such as online banking, online billing or even car loan at any time (24 hours) or anywhere, as long as access to the internet. For example like consumer can check the bank details through their mobile phone no matter at where and anytime along with the network connection. In addition, consumer able to check or view the history of the previous transaction that they made or get the accurate real time information through online payment system. It may save up a lot of the paperwork as well. 3.1.2 Reduce cost and save time With the help of online payment system, we only need to stay at home with just a click in front of the computer which connected to the network, and transaction will be done easily. Instead of go to the physical bank to make the transaction by writing the form and waiting in front of the counter. It may save up a lot of cost like transportation fees, paper workflow fees and so on. Besides that, through online payment, the processing speed is definitely fast and rapid by following the simple instructions and entering the parameters that the system required. And user may not need to transport from one location to another, it may save up a lot of time. Compared with the real world physical offline banking system, it may spend a lot of time especially on peak season or peak hour. 3.1.3 Flexible of using e-payment Along with the continuous improvement of e-commerce, many organizations or firms not only focusing their business on offline operation, but managing their business workflow on internet. Nevertheless, e-payment, as what we called as online payment, had become an indispensable item for the entire progress of e-business. Nowadays, there are more and more online payment service provided which linked with the organization. It is more flexible to the consumer, they can choose which type of service that they want, for example like PayPal, e-cash or which bank they prefer such as maybank2u and so on. Besides that, majority of the online payment service are operation 24 hours, consumer can make the transaction anytime they like. In addition, they can reduce they pain of transport from one location to another and waiting in-front of the counter in the bank. Online payment service allow consumer to make any transaction on anytime or everywhere by accessing to the network. It is the flexibility of e-payment. 3.1.4 Benefit between consumer and organization With the help of online payment, consumer and organization are benefiting in other ways like the consumer and organization are able to negotiate arrangements for the true value, and strengthen the relationship of their business. Besides that, consumer can skip many steps or documentation for the transaction. It may easier for them to control over the timing of payment steps, and minimize the operation of the idle account balance. Consumer can eliminate the delay for the processing of transaction. For organization, they can reduce the cost of processing the paper cheque. Yet when the organizations process the paper cheque that paid from consumers, they need to spend some cost to process the paper cheque. With the help of online payment, the organization may have the advantages as well by encouraging the consumer to pay electronically instead of pay by a paper cheque. In addition, they can receive the payment immediately without any delay, because the receipt is available immediately after consumer had made the payment. 3.1.5 Others common benefits Below are some of the common benefits for online payment method. Personal security We do not need to hold so much money along with us on our premises, or even on the outside, and lead to more safety and security Used internationally Online payment is a common method that can be used internationally, it is important for the tourist-sector businesses or those organization who running their business or selling their goods overseas. Reaching a wider customer base Some of the organizations accept the online payment method like phone delivery or mail ordering for online customers; it is easier for those customers who are lack of transportation or not able to reach your premises. Increase the sale opportunities For some customer willing to buy the goods from the offline business shop, the may having the problem that insufficient fund, they have to leaves to get cash, it may cause them not return to the shop again. With the help of online payment from ecommerce sector, customer can buy the goods from internet as long as the computer or devices are connected to the internet. This may lead to sale increasing. 3.2 Disadvantages of Online Payment The transaction over the internet or the transfer of fund on internet through the electronic media is known as electronic payment, as what we called as online payment. Nowadays, online payment is a daily activity for most of the business organization. It is very common and convenient for the online transaction for those organizations focus their business over web to interact with their consumers or business partners. In fact, there are still weaknesses of the online payment that we cannot ignore it. One of the ways is to be aware the raised awareness of privacy and security issues from the electronic online payment system. Consumers have to bear the risk such as fraud or identity threat that involved in the online transaction. There are several disadvantages of online payment (e-payment): 3.2.1 Privacy security concerns. In the e-commerce world, most of the online banking systems, also known as online transaction site, require the user to register as their own member with some simple input or instruction before giving the authorization for them to make the transaction. While the registration process, user need to provide the username and password, all these information implies the need of privacy protection and security. In addition, user need to maintain their account, it may be a trouble for the user. For those organizations site that hosting the user account, they should follow the strict of security and privacy policies. It is very important for those organizations to protect the privacy of the user details and prevent the information being hacked by the hacker. If the username or password is susceptible to being hacked, it maybe will cause the user a serious financial loss problem from the end. All these are a potential rick of the privacy or the personal detail being hacked while using the online payment system. 3.2.2 Identity theft Another disadvantage of using online payment is identity theft. Using the right security measure can prevent your important information being exposed by the third party. Besides that, using virus protection or firewall may very useful to protect your computer. It might a risk that you make any transaction through internet from your computer. Another example like if you losing your smart card, unfortunately the card is fall in unsafe of persons hand. There is a very serious or dangerous expenditure of your entire account balance. Though you will inform the authorities on cards loss, when the time between you losing your card and informing to the authorities, the third party (unsafe person) may transfer all your money out through your card details via internet. 3.2.3 Dependency of online payment system Along with the information technology, many organizations or firms are running their business over the internet and provide several utilities as long as online transaction. In fact, this method is indirectly effect consumers become more and more dependent on online transaction, because it speed and rapid transaction, availability 24 hours as long as connected to the internet at home or even a mobile devices. However, there still can be disadvantages for over dependent of online transaction. For example like if the email does not send to the right destination or not working well, the sender may not know the sending error or does the email has reach the destination or not. Or like for those consumers may want to pay the bill or loan over the internet instead of the traditional ways. There might be a possibility that the online payment system down or not function well from the server side, and worst there was a way for the consumer to meet the dead line. 3.2.4 Loss human touch In the physical bank, some of the customer may like to talk and communicate with the bank tellers, interacting with the bank manager or even the bank clients. But in the online virtual world, online banking system had taken off of these human interactions, all these are done by a system program, impersonal hand-off process. Due to the lack of the human interaction for online payment system, some of the customer my not know about the knowledge of online payment system. These required a basic computer skill and the knowledge about internet before using the online payment system. In addition, for some of the small online banking system, they may not provide any instruction or any guideline to lead the user in the correct way. It will caused the users entering the wrong information or incorrect bank details through the online payment system. 3.2.5 High cost development for internet payment gateway The major disadvantage for online payment method is the high cost for internet payment gateway. For those organizations or firms are running their business over the internet, the have to create an internet payment gateway or a system in-house is definitely high development cost. For those non IT companies, it is hard and difficult for them to create a system for their own. Because it wasnt their core business, and they had to use the resource from inside the company with a little or even zero of IT knowledge to build it up. Therefore, the company have to outsource from outside to help them develop a new online payment gateway for them. 3.2.6 Others Limitation Others common limitation of the online payment method: May be difficult to inspect from a remote location Limited of countries cultural and legal obstacles The rapid changing of technologies Hard to retaining the employee Government regulators Difficult to integrate the software of transaction process and the current existing database. 3.3 Critical Evaluation Based on Olga LuÃâ¦Ã ¡tÃâ¦Ã ¡ik (2009, p.15-16) The main benefit from the bank customers point of view is significant saving of time by the automation of banking services processing and introduction of an easy maintenance tools for managing customers money. Private customers seek slightly different kind of benefits from e-banking. In the study on online banking drivers Aladwani (2001) has found, that providing faster, easier and more reliable services to customers were amongst the top drivers of e-banking development. In my opinion, I definitely agree with the above statement that stated by author (Olga LuÃâ¦Ã ¡tÃâ¦Ã ¡ik). Online payment may help to reduce costs and convenience; user may stay at home to performed transaction at any time as long as connected with the network. It is fast and provides funds management, which allow user to download the history of the transaction that that had made. 4 Ecommerce Security Elements In the use of ecommerce, there are several factors that need to involved are: the confidentiality and privacy of the transaction need to be care between the sender and the recipient. The transaction or trading from ecommerce is directly represents to the individual, organization, or business competitor secrets. Therefore, to prevent any confidential data lost from ecommerce application, we have to make sure that the users are legitimate to access the system, and the authentication to filter which date should be show or which should not be show to the particular user. 4.1 The Integrity of the information Due to the accident or fraud of data entry, the information of the data may result in different way. In addition, the wrong of data or information will result the duplication of transmission in different sector of the process. Therefore, the trade sector will affect the integrity of the information from the parties that involved in the transaction and the entire of the business workflow. 4.2 The validity of the information In e-commerce world, the validity of information to individuals, organizations or even the countries are directly affected to the economic interests and reputation. Besides that, the validity of the number of time and the transaction price are very important. It is to make sure that the recipient received the data from the primary side. While for the primary side also have to make sure that the data are sent to that particular person. 4.3 The Non-repudiation of the information Non-repudiation is refers to something like document or contract that cannot simply denied by the origin party. Typically, non-repudiation is to ensure that the contract or one party cannot deny that they communicate to sign the document or the authenticity of a message. For example like legal documents usually need a witness person to sign it, it is to ensure that the person cannot deny the document. 4.4 The Authenticity of the transaction status Online transaction are geographical distant, we couldnt know each other or even an organization. Organization, businessmen, client or even consumer on internet may need to consider whether the transactions between both parties are trusted. To make the transaction success, mutual understanding and trusted with each other is very important. However, there are too many hacker or scammer in the virtual world, is hard to 100% fully trusted on the online transaction or even the in the virtual organizations. 4.5 The reliability of the system In e-environment, the most important point for the reliability of the system is to protect the confidentiality with a powerful security system. In addition, it is to prevent hacker hack into the system and steal the sensitive information from the system. Computer errors such as system failure, software down, virus detected, network connection down or natural disasters may result from potential threat. Therefore, prevention of the system in a good way is to ensure that the systems are security and reliability. It will affect the business workflow in the future if the reliability of the system is not fully secure. 4.6 Critical Evaluation According to Yang Jing (2009, p.48), Using the network for the transaction, the sender and recipient need to ensure the confidentiality of information exchanged. E-commerce as a means of trading, its message directly represents individuals, corporations or commercial secrets; and the e-commerce system is based on a more open network environment promote the application of ecommerce to maintain commercial confidentiality is an important guarantee. Therefore, in order to prevent a large number of transmissions was illegal to steal information to ensure that only legitimate users will be able to see the data. Information can prevent stolen. In my opinion, I absolutely agree with the statement that the author status above. To prevent the information lost, we have to protect it before happen. The integrity of information, the validity of information, the non-repudiation of information, The Authenticity of the Transaction Status, and The Reliability of the System, all these are the important elements which listed by the Author (Yang Jing) to prevent information lost. In fact, I believe that there are still a number of elements for information prevention which I never mentioned on top. 5 Strategic of E-commerce Security As e-commerce security cause by many factors such as fraud, identity theft, or confidential data being steal by the hacker, all these are the problem that we might face it when in the online virtual world. So, a strategic planning for ecommerce is very important, all the strategic that came out should be line with the overall of the ecommerce business management. It must provide a very powerful protection for all the ecommerce confidential data and allow them to recover as fast as possible if any incident happen. To prevent the security problem happen, a set of variety measurement must be included: 5.1 Security Strategy In order to ensure secure communications between both parties on internet, we must take the necessary measures to prevent them. For communication link purpose, we can use firewall or Virtual Private Network (VPN) to make the communication more safety and secure. And consumer must be very careful on some of the untrusted Proxy server. It is act like an intermediary for seeking the information, resource, or link that requested by the client. If the consumer are using the untrusted proxy server, all the data that the client provided may not be encrypted and sent to the proxy server, and proxy server may record down everything sent from the client, including the login and password. For identification and authentication purpose, encrypted or hash function may be very useful in this situation. In ecommerce, login is a very common and the first step for the consumer before they move on the transaction step. To login to the system, the system needs to identify the user name and password before provide the authentication to the user. With the help of encryption, user password have more secure which showing the password in * symbol. Besides the encryption, hash function is a way to convert your password into others form and store in the s

Flight/Your Shoes: A comparitive essay -- English Literature
Flight/Your Shoes: A comparitive essay In this essay I will be comparing ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢ by Doris Lessing and ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ by Michà ¨le Roberts. The content and style for both stories are similar in some ways and different in other ways. For example, the main problem in both stories is the daughter leaving home for the first time. Another example of a difference is ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢ is written in third-person whereas ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ is written as an interior monologue. The difficulties about the daughters leaving are: in ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢, the grandfather is reluctant to let his granddaughter go off and marry. This is because she is his favourite granddaughter and his last. ââ¬ËHe confronted her, his eyes narrowed, shoulders hunched, tight in a hard knot of pain which included the preening birds, the sunlight, the flowers. He said: ââ¬Å"Think youââ¬â¢re old enough to go courting, hey?â⬠ââ¬â¢ He also does not like Steven, the postmasterââ¬â¢s son, and is maybe jealous of him and how he can win over his granddaughter better than he can himself. ââ¬Ëââ¬Å"Waiting for Steven, hey?â⬠he said, his fingers curling like claws into his palm. ââ¬Å"Any objection?â⬠she asked him lightly, refusing to look at him.ââ¬â¢ In ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ the mother has a bigger problem because her daughter has already left and she does not know where she is. To justify this she goes mad and pretends that she is talking to her daughter through a pair of white trainers, the most expensive and perfect item that the mother bought her daughter before she left. ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢ve tied the shoesââ¬â¢ laces together so they wonââ¬â¢t get separated or lost. White laces, that I washed and ironed.ââ¬â¢ These shoes represent what the mother would like her daughter to be, perfect. ââ¬ËI locked the wardrobe door on those rebellious shoes.ââ¬â¢... ...d to ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢, the Justin Liu Maine A English AXS Flight/Your Shoes (contâ⬠¦) motherââ¬â¢s condition clearly gets worse and lapses into madness at the end. ââ¬ËLaces like strings of white liquorice. They taste sweet.ââ¬â¢ Again there is the symbolism of the shoes and again it represents the way the mother would like her daughter to be. I prefer ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢ to ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ because the story is much clearer and you get to see everyoneââ¬â¢s point of view whereas in ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ the storyline is not so clear and harder to understand because only one person is speaking. However, ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢ has less detail than ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ because there are many more people to focus on. For example, in ââ¬ËYour Shoesââ¬â¢ you know who is still alive and who is not whereas in ââ¬ËFlightââ¬â¢ it is not as clear. However, I enjoyed both stories and thought that they had more similarities than differences.

What Factors Affect the Rate of Reaction Between Magnesium and Hydrochl
Science Coursework ââ¬â What factors effect the rate of reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid? Background Knowledge There are four factors that can affect the rate of reaction and they all rely on the collision theory. This is basically how hard and how often particles collide with each other. The more and harder they collide, the faster the reaction time will be. If the acid is made more concentrated there are more particles, which means collisions are more likely. So, the higher the concentration, the quicker the reaction time is. Temperature also affects the rate of reaction. If the temperature is increased, the particles move quicker so more collisions happen. This means the higher the temperature, the quicker the reaction time. Adding a catalyst increase...

Minimum Profit Possible Made on Drinks in Different Climates :: Profit Consumerism Sales Essays
Minimum Profit Possible Made on Drinks in Different Climates Create the minimum profit possible using the predicted amount of how many hot and cold drink would be sold in different weather climates and the price limits for the two drinks as provided in the ICT booklet. Evaluation Task 5 ================= Holly Grove High School Price Pledge Model ------------------------------------------ For this task, I needed to (as stated in the ICT booklet) create the minimum profit possible using the predicted amount of how many hot and cold drink would be sold in different weather climates and the price limits for the two drinks as provided in the ICT booklet. I used the formulas that I knew to calculate totals on the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and thus to create the minimum profit. I had to ensure that my minimum profit did not go lower than 0 for this would mean that I would not be able to pay for costs such as Programme printing and public address system etc. Now, I am going to evaluate my work going through what was incorrect with each attempt I also did not read the instructions properly and failed to respond to the fact that the hot drinks should either be à £0.55 or à £0.60, therefore the total profit result is completely and I needed to revise the model completely. I choose the cold drink prices because when it was a cold weather climate the cold drink profit was going to be small as people prefer hot drinks in this weather climate, whereas on a hot day, the hot drink profit is going to small, as people prefer cold drinks in this weather climate. Using the correct instructions, my profits decreased rapidly. 40% of the profits were the final profits, which I would use for my final model, however the total profit for the hot weather climate was very high compared to the other profits, which were all under à £4.00. The profits for the warm climate and the mild climate were both below à £1.50, however I checked that they could not go any lower by decreasing the cold drink price by à £0.01 to à £0.53 and à £0.54, however the profits went into the minus numbers. For my third attempt, I decreased the profit for the hot weather

P&G Grooming Performance
PENETRATION RATE OF MAIN PLAYERS IN B&R MARKET In 2011, the whole B&R market penetration sunk into a sap situation, the penetration of the whole market by itself dropped from 43. 5to 41. 6(%). The penetration rate of P&G in year 2011 decreased by 8. 3% compared with that in 2010, and continued a downside trend by the first quarter of 2012 by 7. 5%. Compared with BIC, who increased 5. 8 % penetration in 2011 followed by a 10. 9% drop by 1st quarter of 2012, ENEGIZER first 1. 8% drop followed by a continuous 9. 8% drop, and other retailed brand which decreased by 9. % followed by another downturn of 9%, P&G in its B&R area did not do well in gaining potential customers during 2011. And looked more precisely in specific products of P&G, as the chart shows below, despite some badly performance products , there are still some products doing well in 2011, for example, the best performance products are PROGLIDE MANUAL and PROGLIDE POWER, which were newly trade-up in 2011 and caught the most new consumers during one year and still promise an increasing trend. G2 also did well in 2011, making an increase of 35 penetration points both in male system and male system blades. Moreover, despite the penetration decrease in male system and male system blades, MACH 3 made an increase of 5 and 33 in penetration points in male razors and disposables respectively. In contrast, FUSION series were all losing power to attract new customers, substantially, FUSION MANUAL dropped 32 penetration points in male system , 27 in male sys blades , and 14 in male razors, whatââ¬â¢s worse than that, FUSION POWER lost nearly 40 points in male system, 34 in male sys blades and almost 69 in male razors. CONTOUR also faced a 15-point- decrease, and SENSOR 3 dropped 5 points each in male system and male system blades. Some of the products are losing attractiveness to new customers partly because the trade-up products are replacing their positions in the market, for instance, ever since BLUE 3 march ed into the market, it enjoyed a 8 pointsââ¬â¢ increase in penetration while BLUE 2 faced a responding decrease of as many as 17 penetration points in the market, therefore for these products staying still may make them sifted out, either upgrade the functions or accelerate the renewal may save those products from continuing losing customers. PENETRATION POINT IN 2011 VS YAG | MALE SYSTEM| MALE SYS BLADES| MALE RAZORS| DISPOSABLES| CONTOUR| -15| | | |G2| 35| 35| | | MACH3| -5| -5| 4| 33| SENSOR3| -16| -16| 1| -7| | | | | | FUSION| -8| -4| -9| | FUSION MANUAL| -32| -27| -14| | FUSION POWER| -40| -34| -69| | PROGLIDE MANUAL| 148| 131| 90| | PROGLIDE POWER| 93| 242| 34| | BLUE2| | | | -17| BLUE3| | | | 8| TOTAL| -7| -5| -9| -8| In 2011, P&G increased 1 point and 4 points respectively in number of purchase act and the average spending per purchase act in B&R& disposables compared with that in 2010, while ENERGIZER did not generate any changes in both measurements and BIC increased 12 points in average spending per purchase act and stayed still in purchase act volume. As we can see from the bar chart above, compared with the year before, P&G male system and male system blades both increased 2 points in number of purchase acts and 3 in average spending per purchase act(among which PROGLIDE did the best: 32 points and 34 points increase of purchase act number in male system and male sys blades, 27 pointââ¬â¢ increase and 50 pointsââ¬â¢ increase of spending per purchase act in male system and male blades system respectively) while male disposables decreased 2 points in purchase act volume(among which G2 decrease the most: 12 points decrease) but increased 3 points spending /act(among which MACH 3 decreased 18 points while SENSOR 3 increased 12 points), and male razors did the worst performance as it dropped 2 points in purchase volume and 5 points in spending/ act, among which FUSION MANUAL did the worst(23 points decrease in spending per purchase act ).

Human Services Agency Interview Essay
The Human Service field is vast with different approaches based on uniquely meeting individualââ¬â¢s needs. Some of these needs are met through interdisciplinary knowledge, placing concentration on preventive measures as well as correcting errors of life, and up-holding responsibilities of enhancing the meaning of life. Human Services profession is one, which supports enhanced methods of service by focusing on direct services, and by enhancing accessibility, responsibility, and organization among professionals and agencies in Human Service departments,(Martin, 2007). The organization I chose is Progressive HealthCare Providers that provide services for the developmentally disable who have physical and mental problems. Individuals with mental, physical disabilities as well as behavioral problems are candidates for Group Homes. These individuals are no longer secluded but are visible members of society. The use of single family houses was part of a design to incorporate disabled individuals into communities and minimize the embarrassment of being placed in a facility, which provides special care. I conducted an interview with Pleshetta Davis an administrator with Progressive HealthCare Providers. I decided to use a phone interview made by an online request. A letter was not used because mail delivery is often a problem this time of year. Pleshetta Davis was glad to be of service answering 10 questions that I had prepared for the interview, such as * Type of Human Service provided * How long has PHP been in Service * Mission of PHP * How does PHP receive funding * Affordability to clients * Populace served Influence on Communities * Common Clinical Issues * Training programs for Employees * New programs implemented Pleshetta Davis answers to the questions in the interview were very thought evoking. The mission statement were a set of goals that were to promote public and private partnership in health and human services, promote excellence and innovation in the delivering of healthcare services, remove the profit motivation from decision making, encourage innovated approaches to providing health and human services, (Davis, 2010). This organization has been in service since 1990 and services three states Louisiana, Florida, and Alabama. PHP offers more than 500 beds to individuals whom exhibit developmentally disabilities. This organization implements public-based housing and life-skill programs. PHP came into communities to provided support to disable individuals by providing opportunities to live and participate in his or her community, and reach ones full potential. Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama companies are Intermediate Care Facilities for people with Developmental Disabilities. The facilities are licensed under Title XIX to provide residential, educational, medical, social and behavioral services to individuals who have developmental disabilities. The goal is to help residents learn basic skills so they can live with little supervision, or none. Staff members ensure that clients receive any outside or community service care they need, such as physical therapy, education, medical care, or vocational training This organization is a small nonprofit human service provider that provides help to the disable whose disability is physical and mental. This took me back to the obligations and objectives of Human Service Professionals to understand the nature of human systems through individual, group, organization, community, society, and their major interactions. Human Service providers develop understandings of how group dynamics, organizational structure, the organization of communities, national policies and how human problems are by-products of social systems, (Martin, 2007). Clinical issues were at a minimum such as group homes not welcome in certain communities, finding government support programs such as jobs for clients, day habilitation programs that would take the clients, and eeping staff. This organization met my career goals. Human Service professionals are efficient and work with different ethnic groups who have broad ranges of issues. Caregivers must use a range of interventions to work with different ethnic groups with different cultures, and lifestyles. In this setting caregivers work to improve personal social function of clients enlisted in this program by providing or referring clients for education, training, employment, and personal growth in home settings. Clients are trained for independent living and are placed in society to become productive citizens. This interview although conducted over the phone was very professional, and Pleshetta Davis set aside valuable time in her busy schedule to accommodate me. She stated that the organization sometimes send exceptional workers in their system to college or match college funds, (Davis, 2010). She received her degree in Human Service Management through Louisiana Tech University. She seemed very sincere asking me to give their company consideration when I have finished my degree.

Alcuin and Charlemagne
Charlemagne was the king of the Franks from 768 to 814. He was known to be the most powerful Christian ruler and brought success to his country. Charlemagne was well educated and good looking. His strong voice allowed him to express what he had to say in a very eloquent manner. He was most famous for doubling the territory that his father had previously conquered. With his determination and persistence, Charlemagne became one of the most dignified rulers of the early middle ages. Charlemagnes determination allowed him to expand his empire. He undertook 54 military campaigns during his rule. He also lead his armies into Italy to conquer the Lombard State. His army also invaded the land of the Bavarians and took them under control. During his rule, Charlemagne insisted the Saxons convert to Christianity and soon took them over. In turn, adding more land to the growing Carolingian empire. (Speilvogel p. 138) An interesting characteristic of Charlemagne was his strong desire to learn. He studied foreign languages such as Latin and Greek. He learned from excellent scholars such as Peter of Pisa and Alcuin of York.Charlemagne established a palace school and encouraged other scholars from across Europe to come to the Carolingian court. He focused learning about liberal arts also took lessons in grammar. Charlemagnes love of learning inspired others to obtain educations and maintained the intellectual life of the Catholic church. (Speilvogel p140-141) (Einhard: Life of Charlemagne) Not only was Charlemagne good at conquering land but he also did very well at governing the land he conquered. He was a clever ruler and knew he had to keep the nobles in his service. To do this he granted part of the royal lands as lifetime holdings to nobles who assisted him. Charlemagne also knew that he could not let the counts gain more power then him. To hold more control over his kingdom, Charlemagne required counts to serve outside their own family lands. He also sent out ââ¬Å"messen gers of the lord kingâ⬠to check on the counts and make sure they were following the kings demands. One last thing that Charlemagne realized was the valuable assistance that the Catholic church could provide for him. He decided to create new bishoprics and archbishoprics while restoring old ones. Speilvogel p. 138-139) Charlemagne made many accomplishments during his rule. His first and biggest accomplishment was increasing the Frank Kingdom. His territory stretched over the majority of Europe. Charlemagne was able to subdue the barbarous tribes in Germany which was something other Kings could not accomplish. He also made good relationships with emperors of Constantinople. Being a devote Christian, Charlemagne built the beautiful church at Aix-la-Chapelle. Finally, Charlemagne took care of the poor in his country and sent money to the poor in other countries. (Speilvogel p. 139)As you can see, Charlemagne had many characteristics of a successful ruler. He was determine expand h is empire and he did. He also was good at governing his people. Charlemagne was very well educated and it showed through when whenever he spoke with eloquence. Also, Charlemagne was able to make constant accomplishments such as working on the Church reform, taking care of the poor, and building good relationships with other countries. Charlemagne was so respected that even the Pope called upon him to help during the Roman rebellion. All of these things are what made Charlemagne one of the greatest Kings of all time.

The Code of Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
The Code of Ethics - Essay Example The video also shares the importance of proper decision making by revealing to the students the possibility of tragic accidents due to negligence. The story revolved around the experiences and decisions of an engineer named Fred Martinez as he tries to do his job to design a plant that produces paint removers. He was bombarded with a series of dilemma which in turn was handled by making questionable compromises that risk safety of the people around him. The story ended in an industrial accident that killed a colleague, Manuel Ortega. It is therefore, essential to investigate if Fredââ¬â¢s actions can be considered ethical and if he is to be blamed for the mishap. Fred worked at the competing company ChemiToil before he was employed by the company Phaust. It is therefore questionable if it is ethical for him to take a job. He was knowledgeable of confidential information about ChemiToil and as a professional, he vowed not reveal facts, data, or information without permission from t he employer except as authorized or required by law (NSPE, 2007). It was clarified that Fred was not bound by any legal contract that keeps him from sharing the secret of ChemiToil but there is a difference between doing something illegal and being unethical. It would have been unethical if Engineer Martinez revealed secrets of his former clients. The story suggests that he did not do so since Phaust created its own recipe and it was clarified that Fred based his design from preliminary reports of his co-workers in Phaust. The first problem that Fred faced was the time constraint. His bosses demanded that he finishes the design and construction of the plant within a year because of competition. Fred was admirably able to handle the situation using his expertise. However, twenty percent of the budget was cut off. The engineer was well aware that there is a possibility for the project to be unsuccessful. He explained this to his bosses. Unfortunately, his boss Wally was very subjectiv e and selfish. Wally explained to Fred that everything is about money and profit. He insisted on risking the quality of the plant so that he can assure the employees would get bonuses and privileges. It is stated in the Code of Ethics that ââ¬Å"If the client or employer insists on such unprofessional conduct, (the engineer) shall notify the proper authorities and withdraw from further service on the project (NSPE, 2007)â⬠. Fred weighed the situation and decided to take the risk and continued on the project. Fred should not have accepted Wallyââ¬â¢s explanation. It is their responsibility to prioritize safety over personal gain. He should have insisted on implementing the proper measures to ensure safety inside the plant. Despite the limited finances, Fred proved to be an ethical professional in many circumstances. For example, he insisted on lining the evaporation ponds to secure the public source of water from contamination even if Mexican law does not require this extra precaution. Also, it is shown in scenes that Fred works overtime in the office because he genuinely takes his responsibility as a professional engineer seriously. He thoroughly tested and examined the products and controls that they will be using in the plant. He followed strict protocol for products coming from new suppliers. As an ethical professional, he did his best considering the situation to guarantee the safety of the employees and

English - Cause and Effect Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
English - Cause and Effect - Essay Example The concepts of causes and effects have been applied in various disciplines such as philosophy and mathematics. The relationship between causes and effects can be of a reciprocating nature, where an event can lead to certain consequences, which can then lead to the previous event. On the other hand, same causes can lead to different effects, based on the environmental factors and the circumstances surrounding such occurrences. There are various rules that govern the relationships between causes and effects. For there to be a valid relationship between the two, causes must occur before the effects. This way, the effects must be a consequence of the occurrence of causes. The other rule governing this relationship is the fact that the causes must be bordering the effects, without any dividing factors in between them. Additionally, there must be a constant union existing in the causes and the effects, in a way that the causes can play to generate the effects (Gregory, 1992). Thus accordi ng to the rules of cause and effect relationship, any difference in the results must have been generated by a difference in the causative factors. This relationship can be based on what is the contributory factor to a certain problem. In this case, when an individual faces a serious problem, there is a need to seek what could be the real cause of that problem, just before embarking on seeking the solution to that problem. This is necessary because, if individuals do not seek the real cause of the problem they face, there is a likelihood of taking actions towards solving such problems, which in real sense might not help in eliminating the problems. Thus, in a life situation, the analysis of a cause effect relationship is necessary to help amicably solve the life challenges (David, 1975). The complete analysis of the causes of a problem ensures that an individual solves such a problem the first time. This is beneficial, other than tackling an issue when the actual relationship has not been well discovered, which may end up making an individual solve an issue halfway, only to revert to the same later, when the same problem re-occurs (Gregory, 1992). In understanding the relationship between cause and effect, then an individual needs to identify an issue at hand, consider all the factors that are involved or surrounding such an issue, which could have an impact on it, narrow down to the factors most related to that issue and finally pin point the actual factors involved. This way, the causative factors are indentified, which could have caused the situation at hand (Pearl, 2000). The cause-effect relationship has been widely applied in the religious front. This application has occurred in the form of religious doctrines upholding the viewpoint that for every action that, an individual commits, then there must be a corresponding effect. This way, in religion, any good deed will result to good results, while any bad one will give rise to bad implications on the part of the individual involved in the deeds (Pearl, 2000). Such doctrines upholds the viewpoint that the actions individuals do, either good or bad, will have an effect on such individuals, either in this life, or in the life after. More to this relationship, the religious doctrines provides for an explanation in the consideration of intent, rather than the actual act. Thus according to the religious doctrines, the intention of an individual, rather than the

Blackhole Exploit Kit Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Blackhole Exploit Kit - Research Paper Example It can deliver various malware depending on the operating system and geographical location of the victim or depend on the time of day or other criteria that the attacker has identified (Howard, 2012). Often, a user would visit a compromised though legitimate website that had been outfitted with an external or iframe reference that point to the Blackhole exploit site. Because of this invisible call, malware and exploits would be delivered silently while the user is browsing on a legitimate but compromised website. The victim would not be redirected forcibly as there would be no external sign and the user is likely to remain on the legitimate website and it is likely that he or she would be unaware that malware is loading in the background (International Business, 2012). In order to have a better understanding of this topic, this paper will discuss in more details what Blackhole exploit kits are and how they work. In recent times, the Blackhole exploit kit has gained wide adoption and it is one of the most common exploit frameworks that are used for delivery of web-based malware (Ouchn, 2012). This type of crimeware Web application was developed by a Russian hacker known as HodLum to take advantage of exploits that are unpatched to hack computers through malicious scripts that are planted on legitimate but compromised websites. The first Blackhole exploit kit appeared in the market in August 2010 (Howard, 2012). Since then, there have been newer releases, as well as a free version of the kit. The Blackhole exploit kits are based on a MySQL and PHP backend and incorporate support for exploiting the most vulnerable and widely used security flaws with the purpose of providing hackers with the highest successful exploitation probability (Rajaraman, 2011). Typically, these kits target the Windows operating system version, as well as applications that have been installed on Windows platform. The most famous Blackhole exploit kit attack was in April 2011 that targeted t he website of the United States Postal serviceââ¬â¢s Rapid Information Bulletin Board System (RIBBS) (Wisniewski, 2012). There are various versions of the Blackhole exploit kit including v1.2.2, which was released in February of the year 2012, and it is the most recent version and v1.0.0 version, which was released in late 2010 and was the first version (Ouchn, 2012). The Blackhole exploit kit is made up of various PHP scripts series that are designed to run on a website or a web server. These scripts are protected using the commercial ionCube encoder presumably to prevent other miscreants against stealing their code and therefore hindering analysis (International Business, 2012). The Blackhole exploit kit has general characteristics that enable them to deliver exploits through compromised websites. These characteristics include configuration options for the usual parameters such as redirect URLs, file paths, query string parameters, passwords, and usernames.
A Growing Level of Financial Engineering and Risk Management Research Paper
A Growing Level of Financial Engineering and Risk Management - Research Paper Example The renowned theory by Lon Fuller that is titled the ââ¬Å"inner moralityâ⬠of the Rule of Law clearly stipulates that a legal system will fail if laws presented within the system are obscure, and contradicting. Therefore, to ensure that Islamic banking maintains its unique nature it has been critical to devise a legal framework that ensures efficient functioning of Islamic banking, which is in conformity with Islamic teachings. We can look into the key elements that are contained within a legal framework to support the efficient functioning of Islamic banking. Aldohni stated that under the Islamic banking act, Islamic banking business is described as a banking business whose operations and objectives only contain elements that have been approved by the Islamic religion and in particular, the Shariah laws (63-65). Therefore, the main elements within the legal framework for the efficient functioning of Islamic banking draw their origin to the Islamic religion. The most predomina nt element of the legal framework for Islamic banking is the prohibition of the issuance of interests on all forms of transactions within Islamic banks. This element within the legal framework ensures the efficient functioning of Islamic banking in a manner that conforms to Islamic teachings and it helps in differentiating Islamic banks from the other commercial banks (Aldohni, 68-71). This differtiation would lead to figuring out to the public the equitability and avoidance of Ghara in Islamic banking as compared to conventional system conventional banking legal and regulatory framework.

Should women in the military services be assigned combat duties Research Paper
Should women in the military services be assigned combat duties - Research Paper Example This paper supports women to be in military and fights against the laws kept across to prevent them from combat. People are trying their best to introduce women in combat, by according to the data taken during combat, majority of the death encountered during hostilities are of women. Even though, the paper supports women in combat, they are killed during the war. This paper explains two major factors that resulted to need of women in the forces. During a congress in the military service, they had problems recruiting and retaining a good number of qualified males, turning their attention into training women. The second thing was that there was a movement to have equal rights for women in the 1960s and 1970s. I will use this resource to will avail information in the paper regarding the movement that resulted to equal opportunity in jobs, including national defense and the removal of laws against them. Michele M, and Johnson D. Women in Combat compendium. Washington,DC: Government Print ing Office, 2012.Print. Michele and Douglas are in the U.S army college who conducted research for the army and the department of defense. This book explains the compendium requested by Colonel Putko for the support of a study based on women in combat. Douglas Johnson agreed but had to put a condition to monitor the womenââ¬â¢s performance in the field. It is seen that the motion is one of the greatest emotion, and women wish to be part of the military. Research in the U.S army shows that approximately 15 percent are made up of women. This paper still indicates that it is impossible to apply rules that exclude women from combat due to the current battlefield. Enforcing the laws result to the reduction of combat capabilities, putting down the professional development of women and bringing on a serious reduction of readiness during warfare. The two major points supporting the combat of women is that, the combat nature has changed and the rules that were earlier enforced do not fit in the current situation. There is no doubt that women can perform their duties in the combat situation, apply self-defense with great skills, which in essence, is equal to the male comrades. I will use this resource to provide the paper with details on the importance of women on combat duties. Solaro E. Women in the Line of Fire. Emeryville,CA: Seal Press, 2006. Print. This book truly explains the facts of women in combat that was fought in the history of America. Success is shown in women in ground combat after a success in their mission, despite their exclusion. It is inevitable for the U.S to lack tactical and clear frontline women to engage with Iraqi women during the war. The book shows gender discrimination in the military and the government as there is a different in what women are supposed to do and what they are doing. The women capabilities in combat are assumed rather than being assessed. Leadership diversity should be encouraged where women are integrated in all sectors of the military, to make an effective military. Women who have participated in combat services should be recognized, but the bans prevent them from being rewarded materials of combat veterans. Repealing the law put up to prevent women from combat is very necessary for gender equality. Both male and female should be given equal opportunity in combat. In the ranks, distribution women are offered the lowest ranks,

Critique of the argumentative Strengths and Weakness The Blessings of Term Paper
Critique of the argumentative Strengths and Weakness The Blessings of Dirty Work by Barbara Kingsolver - Term Paper Example In this line of argument, I find the article of Kingsolver highly effective in communicating the hidden costs of industrialized and centralized agriculture that we have nowadays through presenting a coherent, appealing and factual article. What is most remarkable in Kingsolverââ¬â¢s article is the manner she presented the points of her concern in her article. Unlike other articles which discuss other important issue, Kingsolver, in her writing did not limit herself in just plainly presenting facts and other information to corroborate her point about the hidden tolls of industrialized agriculture. Instead, she appealed to the emotion of her readers by stating depressing instances in India pertaining to the unseen or, maybe, unrealized effects of highly advanced agricultural system contemporarily. Kingsolver mentioned her encounter about Vandana Shiva, the director of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Natural Resource Policy.

Careers In Early Childhood Education Essay Example for Free
Careers In Early Childhood Education Essay Part AFredrick Frobel believed that children learn when they are lively and free. He also believed that childrenââ¬â¢s education should be based on their interests and their active involvement. An activity using Frobelââ¬â¢sââ¬â¢ parquet gifts for 3 ââ¬â 5 year olds would need to be simple enough that they would be able to manipulate the pieces involved and complex enough to challenge their minds. To start our activity I would take thin pieces of wood about 1010 inches. I would outline a very simple drawing of different animals on the pieces of wood. The children can use the parquet shapes to fill the animal in, or to trace the outline of the animals. The animals would require 7 ââ¬â 10 shape pieces to complete. This activity would interest the children because of the puzzles and the animal shapes. The constructive play would develop several skills such as hand/eye coordination and mental activity. The children would also be learning about different animals and their parts, like legs, heads and bodies. It also provides a small step towards the next level of play, symbolic play, by mimicking animals out of other materials. Part BMaria Montessori believed that children are internally motivated to interact with the world. She believed that childrenââ¬â¢s play was a waste of time they could be using to learn. The activity with Frobelââ¬â¢s parquet gifts would use the same animal outlines on the thin 1010 inch pieces of wood but they would be hollowed out to create the depression of the animal. By adding small knobs to the shape pieces it would teach the children the correct way to hold a pencil. Together these make the puzzles themselves self correcting and keep the children using the activity in the way it was designed. Montessori believed there was only one way to use her education materials. There is a key difference in Fredrick Frobel and Maria Montessori methods. The activity designed for Frobelââ¬â¢s method allows children to create theirà own ways to manipulate the pieces, like outlining the puzzle. Since his method was not self correcting it requires more thought to keep the pieces in the right area when adding another piece. Montessoriââ¬â¢s method was much more stringent, while she believed children learned by natural exploration she didnââ¬â¢t allow materials to b e used other than the designated way. Scenario 2: Learning Activity 1, Pet ParadePet parade is a learning activity where children make pet masks and take turns describing their pet and showing the things their pet like to do. Children naturally like to create and draw. Letting the children choose which animal they would like to represent encourages them to use their minds to make decisions. The children would be creating art by cutting, gluing and coloring their masks as well as planning how they will represent their chosen animal. Standing in front of a class full of children gets the up and moving. They would be speaking and encouraged to answer questions about their pet from the other children. This activity is a fun way to further nurture many skills. Learning Activity 2, Whatââ¬â¢s Different?Whatââ¬â¢s different is a real life version of the popular spot the difference books. Children take turns covering their faces or putting heads on their desks while the child whose turn it is changes something about his/her appearance. The change doesnââ¬â¢t have to be big, just rolling up a pant leg, put a sock on their hand or perhaps a funny paper mustache. Then the other children uncover their eyes and take turns guessing whatââ¬â¢s different. This activity helps the children to learn about taking turns and being the leader. It also gets them up and moving and helps them with problem solving skills. When the children Letters donââ¬â¢t have to be precise and artistic; they should be fairly constant and readable. They should not float like a balloon or sink below the line and should be formed from the top and not the bottom. Practice forming letters with letter formation drills promotes reading and writing for all children. Children with a visual impairment may have the materials modified. Use brightly colored pens with a black contrasting paper. Enlarge all workbook pages and lined paper, double lines work well for children with visual impairment. For children with epilepsy traditional approaches need to be modified. Some student struggle with motor skills as a result of their epilepsy and they are especially vulnerable to inattention and work incompletion. Further breaking down the letters into simpler steps has been proven to promote writing skills in a child with epilepsy. A few easy steps can be taken to ensure the classroom is suitable for hearing impaired students. When possible, turn off equipment that creates background noises, such as fans and projectors, when not in use. Eliminating extra noise helps students with hearing impairments focus on the class lecture and assignments. Remember that hearing aids amplify every sound, including tapping pencils and air conditioners. Area rugs and heavy curtains can also eliminate a great deal of extraneous noise. Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, especially those with the inattentive subtype, may take longer to process information. Be sure to give them extended time to complete their assignments. Practice letters thatà are similarly formed (l/t/I; c/d; v/w), and work on those that are more frequently used ââ¬â s, m, r ââ¬â before he tries those less commonly found in words ââ¬â j, q, z. Engage in different sensory methods for letter formation such as sand, or on an iPad white board using their finger. Scenario 4- Cause, technique, solution and reason: Temper TantrumCause: Connor wants attention. Guidance Technique: Ignore negative behavior. Appropriate Solution: Move to the other side of the room until Connors tantrum is over and then invite him to sit beside you while you read a story. Praise him for sitting beside you nicely. Reason: By ignoring the negative behavior and giving attention to the positive behavior it will effectively stop the tantrums. ââ¬Å"Mommy, donââ¬â¢t go!â⬠Cause: Insecure attachment Guidance Technique: Encouragement Appropriate Solution: Encourage Angela to play with her favorite toy or read a book when she is dropped off in the morning; also speak to Angelaââ¬â¢s mother about becoming a secure base and not leaving without saying goodbye to help Angela acclimate. Reason: Positive support and encouragement can help the transition to a new place easier. BullyCause: Power Guidance Technique: Restructure and Reinforce Appropriate Solution: Restructure the environment so there are fewer opportunities for bullying. Help Jenny realize she has power over her decision by letting her choose and activity and choosing to play with someone instead of taking over. Reinforce positive behavior when she makes the right choice. Reason: Restructuring the environment will provide an assurance of protection to the other children while reinforcing Jennyââ¬â¢s positive behavior shows her that you respect her decisions and care and care for her while paying attention.
